The Leschenault Catchment Council would like to acknowledge the Wadandi/Kaniyang/Pindjarup/Wiilman People as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We strive to support Traditional Owners and learn from Indigenous knowledge and wisdom in caring for the land.

Working with our community for a healthy catchment

The Leschenault Catchment Council is an independent, community based, not-for-profit organisation committed to the long-term environmental protection and enhancement of the Leschenault Catchment in the southwest of Western Australia. Our catchment is large and diverse, stretching from Harvey in the north, to Darkan in the east and Donnybrook in the south.

We have a clear vision for our region: a healthy, biodiverse and climate resilient natural environment and a sustainable future for people and culture’.

Our goal is to inspire, support and work with the community to preserve ecosystems vital for the sustainability of the land, waters, and coast within our catchment.

We are committed to respectful and active engagement with Aboriginal culture and collaboration with Aboriginal groups;  strong community engagement and inclusion; strategic action through collaborative partnerships; and best practice landcare, based on reliable conservation science.

Through good governance, sound financial management, honesty, and integrity our organisation strives to be a socially responsible community organisation.

Our work is focused through five long term strategic environmental programs: Danju - Jobs Together; Leschenault Estuary Connect; Restoring our Waterways; Wildlife for the Future; and Catchment Stewardship.

We share our passion for the natural environment with our motivated community through awareness raising activities, engaging workshops, on-ground environmental projects, and volunteer opportunities, striving to enable and empower all folk in the protection of the diverse beauty of our region.
