A valued member of the LCC family steps down

After ten years with Leschenault Catchment Council (LCC) Chris Howe is stepping down from his role as Danju and Conservation Works Program Manager with the local landcare group.

Chris recently celebrated his 10-year anniversary with LCC, beginning work as a project officer in 2015, and has been an integral member of the team, contributing his expertise and leadership through times of change and growth.

Most recently Chris has led and expanded the Danju Jobs Together Program bringing his cultural understanding, and leadership skills to provide vital support to the Noongar Danju Conservation Team and grow the fee for service arm of the organisation.

Advising the LCC Board and Staff of his departure, Chris said, ‘LCC has been incredibly rewarding — both professionally and personally. I am truly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to grow, the trust placed in me, and the chance to work alongside such talented, supportive and inspirational colleagues and peers.’

LCC Chair, Anne-Marie Offer, praised Chris’s contribution to LCC over the last 10 years. She said Chris has been an integral part of the LCC Management Team who has steered the organisation to strong growth and stability over the past few years. He has also been a major player in the development of our new long-term programs, particularly the Danju – Jobs Together Program, and supporting our community to engage and actively care for our precious environment.

Anne-Marie said ‘Chris has been all things to LCC, he has been a huge part of the LCC family and will be sorely missed. We are in a strong position now and Chris’s expertise and experience have been vital to where we find ourselves today.’

At his recent 10-year anniversary Chris reflected on his time at LCC saying, ‘Working with LCC Board members and Indigenous Workabout to build the Danju Program up from scratch to what it is now has been a hugely rewarding experience. I really value what I have learnt through that process, and I love that I have been able to have a role in developing this for the LCC and the Danju team.’

The long-term employee and resident of Bunbury is stepping down to take up an opportunity that he says is exciting and new. Chris will be working in the offset revegetation space in the southwest, using his extensive experience in revegetation and project management and remaining in the landcare sector.

The Board and staff of LCC wish Chris well for his new adventure and hopes to keep close connections with him.
