Fencing and Revegetation Case Study with Chris Atkinson

We visited Healthy Estuaries WA fencing and revegetation participant Chris Atkinson this month to chat with him about his experience with the program and see firsthand the progress on his farm.

Chris has been working on his fencing and revegetation project with practical support from the Leschenault Catchment Council and the Danju Conservation Team, and funding through Healthy Estuaries WA.

He got involved in the program firstly to receive assistance with controlling the bamboo that was choking the creekline on his property. Chris’ project has involved site preparation, installation of fencing to keep the cows out of the creek and revegetation with about 900 native seedlings.

Chris has maintained the site by hand watering the plants and undertaking ongoing weed control. The plants are establishing nicely and it’s wonderful to see the variety of biodiversity utilising the area.
